📸Exposé 3:
Dr MONKAM Emmanuel, Cybercrime Expert for his part, articulated his presentation on Cybercrime.
For this expert in cybercrime, criminal offences committed in social networks are punishable by law. These are offences committed in everyday life by technological means. By way of illustration, he mentioned the different types or families of social networks Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Tiktok, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitch…. are some examples. According to him, the design of these different platforms is one of the motivations that favours the addiction of followers or mobile and internet users.
Described as a societal phenomenon by the expert, he points out that digital identities nowadays contribute to prolonging people’s physical existence. They also promote the democratisation of education.
Furthermore, he listed some of the advantages of social networks in everyday life.
In the context of protecting people in cyberspace, three laws govern digital behaviour. These laws are:
👉🏾Loi number 2010 relating to cybercrime;
👉🏾Loi of 2013 on Electronic Communications and Information Systems;
👉🏾Loi of 2010 on electronic commerce.
For example, Article 74 of the 2010 law criminalises infringement of personal rights. Thus, the sharing of deviant images, videos or texts… is condemned.
