📸 MINAC's reaction

The speech by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, Prof. Blaise Jacques NKENE, outlined the measures put in place to promote cultural and artistic emulation in Cameroon. According to him, culture and the arts are sources of decent employment for young Cameroonians. As an illustration, he mentioned the reading and cultural activity centres currently under construction, which aim to bring film-related professions and productions closer to young people and the general population.

Following these speeches, Minister MOUNOUNA FOUTSOU emphasised to young people the need to move towards vocational training, a key option for realising the Head of State's vision for socio-economic and professional integration. On a cultural level, the minister recommended that young people visit the CMPJs to participate in the cultural heritage of the local community.

📸 Introductory remarks

The Minister of Youth and Civic Education, MOUNOUNA FOUTSOU, is currently moderating discussions between young people and members of the Government, particularly the Health and Social Services panel, in the presence of his counterparts from the Government departments for the Promotion of Women and the Family, Arts and Culture, Decentralisation and Local Development, as well as the President of the National Youth Council.

In his speech, Minister MOUNOUNA FOUTSOU set the scene by reminding the audience of the context of these discussions and the challenges of health and access to basic social services for young people. In doing so, he recalled the interest of the Head of State, H.E. Paul BIYA, who has dedicated his current seven-year term to young people and women.

🎙️ Towards the CNJC

Fadimatou IYAWA OUSMANOU, in her capacity as President of the National Youth Council of Cameroon, reiterates the unwavering commitment of Cameroonian youth to the republican ideals of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA. In this regard, she highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Government to promote the socio-economic integration and development of young people through government facilities. To take advantage of these, she recommends that young people register with the National Youth Observatory (ONJ) of Cameroon in order to access the Biometric Youth Card (CJB) and the opportunities it offers.

📸 Response from MINDEVEL

For the Secretary General of MINDEVEL, decentralisation is a driving force for the development of young people, and this multi-level, multi-stakeholder policy promotes and acts through the creation of direct jobs.

In this regard, he highlights all the direct and indirect benefits (in terms of services) associated with decentralisation through its physical units, namely municipalities and regional councils, which have a cognitive and formative impact on young people. Furthermore, he plans to take stronger action in the future with the complete transfer of powers and resources, thereby promoting the development of economic zones, he says.
