📸 Background and justification

Youth Day, celebrated every year in Cameroon, is a special time to promote the values of patriotism, national solidarity and social cohesion among young people. It is an ideal platform for them to express themselves, demonstrate their talents and strengthen their commitment to the country's development.
In this context, sports activities play a key role as a tool for inclusion, socialisation and personal development. By integrating sport into the festivities of this 58th edition, the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education (MINJEC) intends to offer young people a unique opportunity to express their dynamism through playful and competitive activities.
The Harmonised National Programme of Youth Day activities therefore places particular emphasis on developing the sporting talent of young people without distinction, strengthening the bonds of fraternity and promoting living together. The programme also aims to combat all forms of social exclusion by encouraging the participation of all categories of young people, regardless of their origin or social status.
Through this Sports Animation Day, Cameroon is affirming its commitment to making sport a vehicle for bringing people together, surpassing themselves and encouraging positive emulation, thereby contributing to the training of responsible young people involved in national construction.

📸 Sports activities day ?

Sports Animation Day is part of the 59ᵉ edition of the Cameroon Youth Festival, which aims to mobilise young people around educational, civic and recreational activities. This event fits in with the logic of the National Programme for Civic Education through Moral, Civic and Entrepreneurial Rearmament (PRONEC-REAMORCE) and the objectives of the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (SND-30), which promote the socio-economic integration and active citizenship of young people.
In this context, sport is seen as a powerful lever for socialisation, self-fulfilment and personal development. It plays a key role in guiding young people and promoting social inclusion, by fostering values such as fair play, discipline and personal achievement. Sports Day will provide an opportunity to organise inclusive tournaments in all regions of the country, offering young people from all walks of life a chance to get together and build national cohesion.
This event also helps to promote living together and to strengthen the sense of belonging to the Cameroonian nation, by integrating cultural and regional diversity through sporting disciplines.

📸 Implementation

The Sports Animation Day at the 59ᵉ edition of the Youth Festival is based on rigorous organisation and effective coordination of the various activities planned. To ensure that the event runs smoothly, several key stages are put in place:

1. Selection of competitors

In the run-up to the event, each Mfoundi district organises local selections to identify the young competitors in each discipline.

For virtual sports and the decathlon, each district will enter one (1) competitor per discipline, except for tug-of-war, which will require a team of five (5).

Board games are freely available, encouraging spontaneous and inclusive participation.

2. Organisation of competitions

Group constitution : A draw is made to form two pools in each competitive discipline.

Sequence of events :

Pool phase: Competitors compete in qualifying matches.

Semi-finals: The top two competitors or teams in each pool compete in a cross-over match.

Finals: The winners of the semi-finals battle it out for first place.

3. Setting up logistics and equipment

Development of the Youth Village :

Installation of competition areas for virtual sports, the decathlon and board games.

Attraction points and relaxation areas to encourage conviviality.

Sports equipment :

Acquisition and provision of the necessary equipment (games consoles, balls, ropes, table tennis tables, board games, etc.).

Security and supervision :

Organising committees to manage competitions and monitor results.

Mobilisation of first-aid and medical teams to ensure the safety of participants.

4. Mobilising stakeholders and partners

Involvement of local authorities (sub-prefects, mayors, traditional chiefs) to facilitate the participation of young people.

Working with youth organisations and sports associations to supervise and run the events.

Engaging the media to promote and cover the event.

5. Monitoring and assessment

An evaluation committee has been set up to analyse the impact of the event and identify possible improvements for future editions. At the end of the day, a results report will be drawn up and prizes awarded to the best competitors.

Thanks to this rigorous strategy, the Sports Event Day will guarantee dynamic participation, smooth running of the competitions and a successful celebration of the values of Youth Day 2025.
