ACTIVITIES TO LAUNCH THE 2025 YOUTH FESTIVAL

Welcome speech from the Mayor of Idenau Gabriel TONDE LIFANJE
In his speech he welcomes the minister and his entourage to Idenau.
He further thanks the President of the republic and the minister of youth Affairs and civic education for thinking about the youths of Idenau and taking all measures for building a youth empowerment centre here in Idenau which will go a long way to help the youth in their development projects.

Later the Minister handed over the flag of Cameroon to the different traditional rulers and administrative authorities present here today.
Furthermore, The organisation of the National and Local Citizenship Games, as recreational and educational events during which the population in general, and young people in particular, are made aware of societal excesses through healthy and relaxing games and sports activities;
the launch of a special operation, electoral Education for civic and patriotic elections, under the theme “The Continent First”, understood as, “Cameroon First “, to sensitize the population in general and the youths in particular, on Citizenship rights and obligations and how to combat the various attempts at manipulation, destabilisation and incitement to hatred, for peaceful elections ;
In addition, the enhancement of the decentralisation of Youth Day celebrations in the Diaspora, under the supervision of Cameroon Diplomatic Missions abroad, and at local level, in some big villages and quarters.
Another innovation to feature in this 59th edition of the Youth Day is the holding of activities called “Youth Days” in Youth Villages where thematic activities will be organised, such as:
- Active and Constructive Citizenship Education Day;
- Youth Day Celebration and Commemoration Day;
- Training Day;
- Volunteer and Civil Protection Day;
- Defence and Security Forces, Sectoral Ministries and Youth Entrepreneurship Open Doors Day:
- Diaspora Day;
- Sports Entertainment Day;
- Traditional, Cultural Expression and Youth Excellence Day ;
And lastly, March-past and Exchanges Report Day.

PRESENTATION OF WEST COAST SUB DIVISION
The Idenau council within West Coast Sub Division was created by the presidential decree No 95/206 of 24th April 1995. Idenau the head quarter of West Coast Sub Division located in Fako division of the South West Region of Cameroon some 29km from Limbe. West Coast Sub Division has a total surface area of 16km2 with an estimated population of 30.000 inhabitants of which about 60% are made up of young people living in 8 villages, among which are fishing ports, native communities and CDC camps.
Generally, West Coast Sub Division is found on the north of the Atlantic Ocean and the windward side of therrr mountain. It is bounded to the north by a stretch of the mount Cameroon national park, to the north east by Buea Sub Division, to the east by Limbe II municipality, to the south by the Atlantic Ocean, to the west by Bamusso Sub Division and to the northwest by Mbonge Sub Division.
The average temperature range is about 25-30c and have a mean monthly rainfall of about 5000mm to 8000mm.
Socio – economically. West coast Sub Division hosts a number of Government and private schools and also harbours a district hospital and a number of health centers which facilitate easy access to health facilities. The Sub Division also harbors good lodging facilities like hotels and rest houses such as SEMME and TSABEN hotels.
Economically, the predominant activities of the inhabitants of west coast Sub Division include; fishing, agriculture, livestock and many business activities. Fishing is the principal economic activity within the municipality and also contributes the major source of revenue collection for the council. Plantation agriculture which is the second most important economic activity is mostly carried out by CDC and covers a vast area of landscape and Crops cultivated include; palms, maize, plantain.
Politically the dominant political party in this area is the Cameroon’s people Democratic Movement (CPDM) that also controls the Council.
In the Religious domain, West coast Sub Division has a very strong ecumenical organization where both Muslims and Christians come together to cohabit and exchange religious views for the benefit of the community. West Coast Sub Division has also been blessed with a very rich and diversified cultural background with the farmous Bakweri cultural association
