"I'm proud to be at the Continent "
The World Youth Camp is taking place for the very first time. The aim is to mobilize around 5,000 young people aged between 15 and 35 from Cameroon and other countries around the world, particularly in the sub-region, and bring them together in one place. It also brings together young people from Africa and other parts of the world, notably South Korea. Its objectives include
📌 - promote intercultural exchange and mutual understanding between young people from different parts of the world ;
📌 - strengthen young people's skills and knowledge in areas such as leadership, civic values, democratic contribution, social entrepreneurship, public-interest culture, the environment, human rights ;
-📌 to implement PRONEC-REAMORCE content by capitalizing on the Mindset education approach ...
For three (03) days, from February 08 to 10, 2024. The said camp is organized at the Yaoundé-Mfandena sports stadium. The said Camp, organized under the banner of the CNJC, is done in collaboration with the partner NGO IYF.
At the local level, youth camps in the form of summer camps could be organized in the CMPJs for unruly schoolchildren, in collaboration with parents and school heads, culminating in a night or day of REAMORCE from February 9 to 10, 2024.
"Our ancestors are with you and are delighted that the 1st World Youth Camp is being held on our land".
"Cameroon's youth must shine through excellence and creativity".
These are the words of the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, MOUNOUNA FOUTSOU, who begins by thanking the very high hierarchy for the high approval of the organization of this event. Thanks also go to the South Korean and African authorities who have made it possible for their young people to be represented here.
Addressing the young participants, he invited them to be the cantors of the mdevelopmentélodie du développement, for which the theme of this year's Fête de la jeunesse sounds like a death knell, driving economic development through the active participation of young people. To achieve this, he points to the National Program for Civic Education through Moral, Civic and Entrepreneurial Rearmament (pronec_ reamorce) as the compass.
With these words, he declares:
I declare open the world youth camp organized here in Yaoundé until February 10," he concludes.
This is what we learn from the lesson on Mind Education given here by KIM JIN Sung, Central and West Africa Coordinator for the NGO IYF. We note that changing the world and society requires the association of strong hearts that think about development and see things in the same direction. Using South Korea as a case in point, he says: "even in the desert you can achieve great things, you just need to be connected, to connect your heart to that of others"_. The scarcity of resources is where human ingenuity should be at its best. He therefore invites the young participants in this camp to connect with their peers to develop their community, their society, and hence the World.

With participants from various continents, including many young people from Cameroon and the Central African sub-region, the camp featured trade academies, mini Olympic tournaments, an education forum and an entrepreneurship forum. The aim is for the many young people to exchange ideas with elders, experts and young peers, in order to develop an entrepreneurial culture and reinforce their sense of civic-mindedness, patriotism and collective responsibility. In addition, cultural and artistic performances enhanced the gathering, enabling young people to express their talents and skills. As an added bonus, the event featured a performance by the "Gracias" world orchestra, with the chance to win scholarships to South Korean universities.
Yong Jun Park, President of the NGO International Youth Fellowship, draws on his personal experience, as well as on South Korea's development experience, to give advice to young people. He points out that a change of mentality is needed to be part of the development dynamic. It should be noted that the NGO Youth Fellowship, through its "Mind Education" program, strives to change lives by educating citizens, laying the foundations for a strong mentality, capable of overcoming both professional and personal difficulties. These are the objectives of the National Program for Civic Education through Moral, Civic and Entrepreneurial Rearmament (Pronec-reamorce), which aims to cultivate a spirit of patriotism by instilling values in Cameroonian citizens in all environments and all walks of life.
He ended his speech by thanking the Cameroonian authorities, led by the Head of State, for organizing this World Camp, the first of its kind in Cameroon.

Bringing together three to five thousand young people in one place, encouraging them to mix and develop their skills, was the main objective of this World Youth Camp. Part of the Onzaine 2024 activities, the event was organized by the National Youth Council of Cameroon (CNJC) and the South Korean NGO International Youth Fellowship (IYF), under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education.
This is what Fadimatou IYAWA OUSMANOU, President of the CNJC, tells us, and she is delighted that this camp "organized by young people for young people" was endorsed by the Head of State, who made it possible. Nearly 5,000 young people from all over the world travelled from Yaoundé to take part in the camp: "Youth was well represented".
These are the words of Fadimatou Iyawa ousmanou, who is handing over a table for the Head of State. It shows the infrastructure built for development. We can see dams, a stadium, the universal health coverage mechanism, and so on.
The Minister of Youth and Civic Education, MOUNOUNA FOUTSOU, declares the World Youth Camp closed with an appreciation of the smooth running of the camp.
