"I can't say it often enough. Self-employment is one of the best ways of achieving socio-professional integration, given the impossibility for the State and the private sector to absorb the ever-increasing volume of young people entering the job market every year.
The Triennial Special Youth Plan, launched in 2016, is part of this logic. It has already funded thousands of projects for young people. In the same vein, the Programme de Promotion de l'Entreprenariat has contributed to the creation of over 12,000 new businesses in 2023. These generated nearly 22 thousand direct jobs. This progress is certainly encouraging. But I'm well aware conscious, they remain insufficient in relation to the number of young people looking for work. That's why I invite you to seize the opportunities offered by implementation of the Three-Year Integrated Import-Substitution Plan 2024-2026, to engage in production activities. Not only will they enable you to make yourself useful to your country, but also to find the means to provide for your needs.
Extract from the Head of State's Message to Youth, February 10, 2024
An edifying message
The speech was closely followed by the Minister for Youth and Civic Education, MOUNOUNA FOUTSOU, and his counterpart for Employment and Vocational Training, ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY.
The good points of the three-year Spécial jeunes plan are well worth noting, as is the importance of youth participation structures and movements such as the CNJC, CRJs and CMJs.
